The Immortals of Meluha - Shiva Trilogy

The Immortals of Meluha - Shiva Trilogy

Came across a very interesting video trailer for Indian Fiction – The Immortals of Meluha. (Thanks to Reem Saied and Gayatri for posting it)

The Immortals of Meluha is – The Story of Shiva, the simple man, whose Karma recast him as our Mahadev. The God of Gods.

‘The Immortals of Meluha’ is written by Amish Tripathi, 35 year old IIM (kolkata) grad  who works with IDBI as National Head Marketing & Product.

This book is the first in the trilogy he is writing.

Trilogy is as follows:

Book 1: “The Immortals of Meluha” – Released on 28′th Feb 2010

You can buy this book from FlipCart at 50% discount and free shipping here :  Buy the Immortals of Meluha

Book 2: “The Secret of the Nagas

Book 3: “The Oath of the Vayuputras”

Check his website :  http://shivatrilogy.com/

Check the video trailer here :

I’ll be buying these books as I love fictions around Mythology.

I personally always believed in the theory of humans being treated as Gods.

Strongly believe Ram, Krishna were super human beings who by their Karma attained a state of God.

hello sir, nice attempt to make a film on such a great topic, what it requires is a master piece director like Mel Gibson, truely this movie should be made like “Apocalypto(2006)” was made. Please drop in a reply if you like my suggestion.

There was already a similar attempt by Dr. Chandraprakash Dewedi — a story on Pandavas. Cant remember the title…

PIcked up the book @ an airport, not yet finished the book. Very gripping till now :)

  • Great work. However you ought to follow up on our research into Pre-History which demonstrates that Rama actually ruled the world from the center of the earth, according to Ramayana. The Center of the earth is a place called ‘Median Biafra’ now located in Nigeria. Acrchaeological disoveries in a place called Igbo Ukwu in modern ‘Biafra’ are replete with what art commentaors have caled ‘Indian wares’ curved swords, elephant heads with heavily beaded decorations, Shiva’s entwined serpents cosmic weapon, and lots more. A woman, probably Sita was buried there and she wore a crescent crown with a total of over 11,000 beads… The archaeologist was a British – Thurstan Shaw. U may contact him for details and make your work more Africa based; which is where your Dravidian ancestors come from – the original Nagas.

  • Sandeep

Very very poor book. I am sorry, but considering the world standard, it has got a weak plot and a boring narration. THe concept and the last chapter can be given some credit, but overall the book seemed worthless to me.

  • It is the best book i have ever read.you can`t just stop reading.

  • catch 22

Read this book. Liked the concept but was not impressed with the research behind. The author has imagination but did not go the distance to understand history or pre-history. The storyline reads like a Hollywood movie and is rather weak.

  • We have completed our triligy on the origins of world civilizatuions. Our second book They Lived Before Adam won the 2009 International Book Awards in USA in the Multi-cultural Non-Fiction Cetegory. Our third book The Lost Testament of the Ancestor od Adam, provides even more proof of Dravidian origins in West Africa.Rama and Osiris were actually two names for the same person, and Sita was Isis. Egypt did not exist then. It was in Punt/Meluhha that tese things happened. In West Africa. Rama was the ruler of Atlantis before the Deluge, but due to sibling rivalry he had to leave Atlantis and he settled in the West African rain forest and still ruled the world from there. He was the first Christ/Avater of the world. Archaeologists have unearthed the city he built in the rain forest – there are many Indian artifacts there. It was he who sank Atlantis with Naga magic of Hanuman – the leader of the West African cavemen, who has been identified as the god El (Ele in Igbo and Ela in Yoruba). Osiris/Rama latter conquered Asia (including India) and created a new civilization there and imported African mythologies and legends into Asia through his West African followers who settled in Asia/India.

This is a theory similar to that of Jesus’ – a great mortal deemed as God. This is how legends are created, after all.

  • V

Overall the concept of the book is really nice. The author takes elements from Indian mythology and combines them properly with his own fantasy.

In an interview over here http://www.whackk.com/july-2010/karma-shiva-and-adventure
the author said that, “I need to take feedback honestly and sincerely to keep improving. But if the point is specifically on the modernity of the language, I don’t intend to change that. Language is a means to an end. The end in the case of a fiction book is to tell a story. If the language makes it easy, then the language is doing its job. If the language is too difficult and ends up making the story slow, then it is not doing its job. And the best way to make the language easy is to use words that people use every day, not trip them up with some classical words for which they would have to rush to the dictionary”

Meluha is the name by which people of Indus Valley Civilization were known to Sumerians. The word ‘Meluha’ is associated with the Tamil word ‘mElulakam’ meaning ‘the abode high above’. Tamils also refer to a lost continent similar to Atlantis, by the name Lemurian continent. The origin of human is believed to be in north-east Africa.Signs of mother-goddess ,Siva and Murugan are found in Indus valley seals, which are Dravidian in nature.Read articles on Indus Valley Civilization and the on the on-going war between Dravidian scholars and Vedic scholars. An distorted-attempt in vain was tried by Rajaram which is now Known as ‘Piltdown horse’ or ‘horse play’ among historians and Archeologist the world-over.

The story is really good. I only picked up this book because there weren’t any other books that looked the least bit promising, but was pleasantly surprised to find myself skipping meals to read it. I don’t appreciate the style of writing though. Some of the characters are ‘overdone’. Still, I can’t wait for the second book to hit the stores.

  • nithya

I know its been a while since the book was published and its a little too late in the day for commenting on it..while I loved the concept of the story and was infact one of the first to pick it up from the bookstores, I felt the language used was really plebeian. The triology has great potential and I wish the author uses this to his fullest advantage.I still am waiting for part 2 though!

  • Bhumesh

Very nicely made, very good for those who want to glimpse of social dynamics of the pre-vedic era. I am very much curious to know how Amish did his research before writing this book. Good Work.

  • sujai

loved the book, eagerly waiting for the second in the trilogy.

  • MSM

In Ramayan, the story of Rama and Sita, handed down to humans via Shiva it is said that an celestial language was handed down to all humanity. Its name was said to be Tamil. The West African language of the cavemen (Hanuman) has survived today as Igbo. In Igbo language Elulakam (Elulokem)also means “my abode high above”. Igbo was probably replaced by Hindu scholars with Tamil. It has been found to be the mother of most world languages studied by our researchers. The Igbo prehistoric civilization excavated by the Thurstan Shaw has snake science writings showing a number of Tamil-like and Malayalam-like letters. Both these languages are Dravidian Indian.

  • Adrian

Also Igbo people believe their oldest ancestors the cavemen Homo Erectus were immortal, and that death only came with Adam, the Homo Sapiens. I think the Bible confirms this. The Rama story also says Ram traveled South and after meeting and joining with Hanuman continued South and reach the Sea which was likely the Southern-based Atlantic Ocean close to Igbo land, the place where the archaeologists found a lost city with many artifacts they identified as Indian.

  • vibhi

Just saw the book with a cousin of mine, started reading the first page… but then…I could not stop…The combination of Mythology and history is too good.. and the hidden philosophy in the story made me to read it non-stop… Good work Amish, now when can we expect your other books?
